Our solution is entirely REST based API calls (returning JSON) for connecting to third-party solutions (even desktop applications).
Custom workflows can be added to help guide the user in connecting your application. For example, if you want to register sales from your Point-of-Sale (POS) application in QuickBooks but you want the customer to be able to select the GL account, the UI will allow the customer to make that selection (and change it whenever they choose).
